2017-11-18 Disposal of low-level radioactive
waste from F1 accident
This is a news of NHK yesterday, about opening
of Disposal of low-level radioactive waste
from Fukushima accident on 17 November.
There are two type of waste from Fukushima,
1) On Site Fukushima, including very high
active waste from reactor core
2) Off Site Fukushima, out of Fukushima plant
site, at Fukushima, Miyagi, Ibaragi, Chiba
etc. total 11 prefectures. Contaminated from
aerial radioactive waste discharge from F1
accident on 31 March 2011.
2-1) above 100,000 Bq/Kg, High level ->
intermediate storage ->Final disposal
2-2) 8,000 to 100,000 Bq/kg, Low level ->
Final disposal
This news is about 2-2) type waste (total
200,000 tons) at Fukushima prefecture (170,000
tons). Within 11 prefectures, This is first
final disposal site in Japan.
As for 2-1) waste, still intermediate storage
site is not yet found.
